DPreview was able to take a M.Zuiko Digital Ed 12‑100mm F4 IS PRO home from Photokina and have begun evaluating the lens. You can find their gallery here. I hope to see more galleries in the near future as other press samples surface.
Newsshooter spotted two interesting prototype at photokina. It’s a fully functional GH4 that’s more suitable for drones and can be controlled via USB or wirelessly. There is also a prototype Panasonic drone gimbal in the video. If Panasonic gets serious about producing this we could see it in 2017, but maybe they will wait to do it with the GH5 guts.
Pretty standard interview with Eric from Olympus, but one of the major revelations is that the 5-axis image stabilization will work along side in lens image stabilization while doing video, which gives you hand held steady came performance. Image stabilization technology is getting serious. The Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II will be a power house for video and photographers of all kind.
The announcement of the Xiao Yi M1 made waves with it’s Leica T like design and red square log. The English site is now online for those looking to learn more about this very interesting camera from China. It will be released September 23rd in China and shortly after in the United States. This camera sounds like a pretty incredible value and could lead to a micro four thirds explosion. Pre-orders have already started for the black body with the 12-40mm F3.5-5.6, 42.5mm f1.8 and double lens kit on Amazon.
