Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II 15fps

Olympus has drastically increased the speed of the Olympus OM-D E-M1. Interestingly the shuttler looks a little creased on the right side if you pause the video at just the right time, but someone might have done something really weird with a floor camera to cause the crease. I can’t wait to get my hands on one to see how responsive it is in person.

DPReview also goes hands-on

Setsuya Kataoka Interview on Photographyblog

Photography Blog also interviewed Setsuya Kataoka and got a few more details from him.

When asked about sports “the OM-D E-M1 Mark II is more aimed at sports photographers who work a lot on their own who can support themselves, and like the portability of a smaller system.” Also this is not the same sensor in the Pen F and reads out twice as fast, which is pretty impressive.

The two newest lenses that offer 6.5 stops of stabilization are the 12-120mm and 300mm at the time. The rest offer 5/5.5 stops. You have to use a tripod to use the 50megapixel mode, which is similar to their other camera that offers the same technology.

You can read the rest of the interview over at the photography blog.

Setsuya Kataoka Interview on Amateur Photographer

tope-m1ii

Really interesting interview with Setsuya Kataoka over on Amateur Photographer. Where he makes a very interesting statement ” The in-body stabilisation itself gives 5.5 steps, and the Sync IS gives 6.5 steps with OIS lenses. 6.5 stops is actually a theoretical limitation at the moment due to rotation of the earth interfering with gyro sensors.” I guess we are going to have to find a way to do with the rotation of the earth now… also in the future Panasonic aperture rings will work on Olympus bodies! If You’re interested in the new Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II check out the interview for more interesting tidbits.

1609_olympus_web

Elinchrom continues to expand the family of EL-Skyport Plus HS transmitters to Olympus users !

Since the launch of the EL-Skyport Plus HS for Canon, Nikon and Sony, the most advanced EL-Skyport is now available to Olympus users.

This will give photographers the ability to control and visualise power settings for all their compatible Elinchrom lights and gives them the opportunity to shoot at speeds up to 1/8000s in Hi-Sync mode.

Visual Feedback Interface

The Large LCD display of the EL-Skyport HS features two-way control via a visual feedback interface that lets you see the exact power up to 10 compatible Elinchrom lights in your setup, right on the transmitter. Users can control the modelling lamp and power of each flash unit directly from the EL-Skyport transmitter, which instantly shows the updated settings.

This provides an incredible system for every light in your setup, right from your camera.

Hi-Sync opens up the world of fash photography

Elinchrom Hi-Sync technology lets you go beyond the X-Sync of your camera. Photographers can simply switch to Hi-Sync mode and access sync speeds up to 1/8000s to freeze motion, overpower the sun, darken backgrounds or use a wider aperture. The ODS (Over Drive Sync) feature enables users to fine tune the EL-Skyport Plus HS transmitter’s trigger signal to optimise exposure at high shutter speeds whilst gaining up to 2 more f-stops of light.

Even more

The EL-Skyport HS has 20 frequency channels that can be used for either Normal or Speed mode. The transmitter attaches easily and securely to the hotshoe with its quick-lock mechanism, and is powered by 2x AA batteries. Users can also enjoy a range of up to 656ft (200m) outdoors, and up to 196ft (60m) indoors. Read More »
