Olympus OM-D E-M1 Firmware 4.3 Released and Potentially Broken

Olympus released firmware 4.3 today for the OM-D E-M1. Firmware 4.3 comes after the removal of 4.2.

Unfortunately there are some reports of this firmware update having issues too so be careful. They aren’t as specific as the last issue so I don’t recommend updating unless you absolutely have to.

Panasonic LX10/15 Hands-on Videos

The Panasonic LX10/15 is a great alternative to the Sony RX100 and you can save a few hundred dollars. I have always been a RX100 fan, but I am seriously considering getting a LX10 even thought I really like the new RX100.

Kaiman Wong is Back With His Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II Hands-on Review

If you’re a DigitalRev fan you’re probably already aware that Kai and Lok are no longer with DigitalRev. Hopefully they continue servicing the fans with there unique reviews. Kai has been a little more serious in his video’s lately, which is good if you want to load up on specs and details from someone that has handled a lot of gear. I was a bit surprised to hear him say he found 6400 ISO acceptable on the Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II, but he also said that there is only about 12 stops of dynamic range in good light, which is probably the best m43 will ever be according to him. I would really like to see a competing video from Lok since he was always the m43 fan.

Cinema5D: Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II Initial Testing

Cinema5D has put together some initial testing and conclusions about the Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II that covers why many cameras come with half baked video features. The new OM-D isn’t a slouch, but it sure would be nice to have internal log capabilities.

“The OM-D E M1 Mark II is a very big step forward for Olympus when it comes to video picture quality! In fact, it is one of the best video-capable photo cameras that I have recently tested. The higher video data rate along with the excellent stabilisation system makes it a valid option as an A-camera working tool….The competition is tough and will probably get even tougher the minute Panasonic announces their final GH5 specifications. As the OM-D E M1 Mark II will be Olympus’s flagship camera for the next 2-3 years, I do hope that the engineers will consider to “go wild”, and be restricted only by camera hardware when implementing newer functionality and usability with future firmware updates.”
