Olympus released firmware updates for three PRO lenses. You can download them here.

M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 12-40mm F2.8 PRO:

  • Stability of lens aperture when shooting videos has been improved.
  • MF shooting operations have been improved.
  • Enhanced stability of AF operation when shooting video
  • Improved AF operation when using the M.ZUIKO DIGITAL 1.4x Teleconverter MC-14.
  • Enhanced stability of sequential shooting when using the E-M1 Mark II.

M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 8mm F1.8 Fisheye PRO:

  • Improved stability of C-AF operation for sequential shooting with H.

M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 300mm F4.0 IS PRO:

  • Improved AF operation.
  • MF shooting operations have been improved.
  • Enhanced stability of operation when shooting video.
  • Enhanced stability of sequential shooting when using the E-M1 Mark II.
  • Improved image stabilization accuracy when using the E-M1 Mark II.

DigitalRev: Olympus OM-D Mark II Hands-on Review

DigitalRev do their typical hands-on with the Olympus OM-D Mark II and the area they there doesn’t seem to be much they dislike beyond the price and menus. Of course the IBIS is amazing, but it’s necessary, because the high ISO still doesn’t keep up with modern APS-C cameras. It’s too bad the Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 12-100mm f/4 IS PRO isn’t a f2 or 2.8.

DPReview: Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II Studio Scene Comparison

The Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II has been added to the DPReview studio scene comparison and it does pretty well especially compared to the original. It doesn’t really keep up with the current top of the line APS-C cameras at high ISO, but it’s pretty close.

Olympus E-PL8 6 Month Warranty Extension Program

Olympus Japan started a program that lets you extend your 12 month warranty 6 months with registration in Japan, but when you go to the registration page it says something interesting.

“Products purchased outside Japan may not be able to register from this website. For those who wish to register please email us with the product name and serial number to the Photo Pass Secretariat.”

So it seems that this program is world wide. If it is they will likely roll out localized websites in the near future, but don’t forget you have to register to take advantage of the offer and the warranty extension only covers the body.
