Do You Still Have To Take Photos?

The Panasonic GH5 has amazing video quality, but can you use frame grabs from vlog recordings to replace raw images? Joo.Works gets pretty close with his workflow, but obviously RAW has more resolution and less compression than vlog so there is only so much he can do, but his use of look-up tables to create a comprobale image is quite novel. Hopefully, he releases these LUTs sooner rather than later, because I’m sure many videographers will benefit greatly from them, especially if they aren’t into photography.

DPR: Panasonic G9 Added to Studio Scene

The Panasonic G9 looks like a slight step up over the GH5 in DPReviews studio scene, but the Olympus OM-D EM1 Mark II seems to be king of the hill for m43 cameras still when it comes to low light performance. None of these cameras rival the Fujifilm X-T2, but Panasonic and Olympus would like you to believe they can keep up. Maybe the Panasonic GH5s will blow everything away but the a7S. Of course, there are very few instances where you should need above 6400 ISO or even 3200 ISO if you have nice fast glass, which m43 cameras have plenty.
