Photorumors received an interesting tip today about a low light high-performance Panasonic GH5 in the works that could be called the Panasonic GH5s to be released in the next 1-2 months. The release of a Panasonic GH5s to compete with the Sony a7S would certainly be a compelling purchase for GH5 fans, but it could trigger the early release of the Sony a7SIII similar to Nikon’s launch of the D850, which is widely believed to have pushed the a7RIII launch ahead of the a7MIII launch. Competition is always good for consumers and Panasonic venturing into low light high-end video cameras is a welcome addition and hopefully speaks to the health of their cameras division. I wonder if the GH5s will have a tweaked 12MP or 16MP sensor for video and how good m43 low light performance can possibly get.
Update – Adorama listed a Panasonic Lumix DC-GH29 with GH5 specs today
