This CAIM1 camera project has a Micro Four Thirds sensor with Sony E-mount mount

CAIM1 (Counter Artificial Intelligence Machine 1) is a prototype camera designed to cryptographically prove that photos and videos were captured from the real world rather than generated by AI. It combines a Micro Four Thirds sensor optimized for 4K video (with a built-in 650 nm IR filter), a native Sony E-mount (plus Micro Four Thirds mount option for bring-your-own-lens flexibility), a 4.3-inch touchscreen, and Tropic Square’s TROPIC01 hardware encryption chip that generates an auditable cryptographic proof the moment you hit record. The proof is then anchored on decentralized infrastructure so anyone can independently verify the origin of the media. The camera can even print a physical receipt with a QR/access code linking to the proof. To handle the heat of simultaneous 4K60 recording and real-time cryptography, it uses active cooling from a Noctua fan, while the chassis is 3D-printed from Prusament materials. The project is still in the prototype stage, with a first production batch targeted for around Q1 2027.

Additional information:

  • Core goal: Provide hardware-level cryptographic proof that photos and videos were captured from the real world (not AI-generated or deepfaked). In an era of synthetic media, standard files become unverifiable; CAIM1 turns captures into cryptographically backed, openly verifiable records.
  • How it works: Capture real images/video → Attest with instant hardware-secured cryptographic proof → Anchor the verification on immutable decentralized infrastructure → Anyone can independently Verify the proof of origin.
  • Sensor & optics: Micro Four Thirds sensor optimized for 4K video, with a built-in anti-reflective 650 nm IR filter. Native Sony E-mount plus Micro Four Thirds mount option (BYOL — Bring Your Own Lens) for modern and vintage glass.
  • Video capability: Designed for 4K (team target of 4K60) while simultaneously generating cryptographic proofs in real time.
  • Security: 4.3-inch touchscreen with integrated Tropic Square TROPIC01 hardware encryption chip (auditable, open RISC-V secure element). Content is locked into a secure pipeline from the moment of recording.
  • Cooling: Active cooling via a Noctua NF-A4x10 5V PWM fan (40 × 40 × 10 mm). Near-silent airflow cools the sensor and processors without vibration or audio interference; the board was redesigned around it. Critical for sustained 4K + crypto workloads.
  • Build: Chassis made with Prusament materials / Prusa 3D printing (manufactured in Prague, ±0.02 mm tolerance) for durability, thermal stability, and the distinctive beige-and-brown look.
  • Optional physical proof: Can print a real-time cryptographic receipt with an access code/QR linking to a wallet holding the media proof (permanent link + on-chain verification).
  • Status: Prototype stage (partnered with Tropic Square for encryption, Noctua for thermal design, and Prusa3D for materials). First production batch targeted around Q1 2027. Price not announced.
