Panasonic Lumix Firmware Updates Released October 20, 2025

Panasonic has rolled out new firmware updates for the Lumix S5II (Ver. 3.4), S5IIX (Ver. 3.4), S9 (Ver. 1.6), G9II (Ver. 2.5), and GH7 (Ver. 1.5). These updates focus on enhancing usability for hybrid shooters and filmmakers, including faster performance, improved app integration, and expanded accessory compatibility. They also coincide with updates to the Lumix Lab and Lumix Flow apps, which add features like AI-powered Magic LUT for image look transfers and phone-as-monitor functionality. Below is a model-by-model recap of the key new features.

Lumix S5II (Ver. 3.4) and S5IIX (Ver. 3.4)

These full-frame hybrids receive shared enhancements emphasizing workflow efficiency and creative controls:

Lumix S9 (Ver. 1.6)

As Panasonic’s compact full-frame creator camera, the S9 gets usability tweaks to align it with the broader S-series ecosystem:

(Note: The S9 does not receive the startup speed improvement seen in the S5II/S5IIX, likely due to its lighter system architecture.)

Lumix G9II (Ver. 2.5)

This Micro Four Thirds speed demon gains parity with Panasonic’s video-centric lineup:

Lumix GH7 (Ver. 1.5)

Panasonic’s flagship Micro Four Thirds video camera builds on its pro tools with ecosystem-wide ties:

These updates are free and available now via the Lumix Global Customer Support website or app stores. They also extend to select S-series lenses (e.g., 18mm f/1.8, 24mm f/1.8) for better operational smoothness. Panasonic notes future rollouts for S1II/S1RII/S1IIE models. For installation, back up your settings first, as some app authentications (e.g., Lumix Sync) now require per-session passwords for security.
