It shouldn’t come as a surprise that the new Olympus OM-D Mark II has the best m43 sensor yet, but even DXO couldn’t help but to point out the new pricing strategy in their conclusion. Olympus and Panasonic would likely sell a lot more cameras if they reduced the price of their flagships to around $1,500, which is where similar sized sensor Fujifilm and Sony cameras are priced. Although they should be below that in keeping with the spirit of m43. The new Panasonic GH5 is obviously a more specialized camera so it can demand a premium in my opinion since it is truly unique, but when the OM-D Mark II comes down to a reasonable price ill pick one up.
Conclusion
Although consortium partner Panasonic has since announced the video-centric Lumix DMC-GH5 at the same price point, at around $2,000, the Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mk II seems at odds with the previously competitive pricing of the Four Thirds models.
